Privacy Policy

Your recipes, your journal and your bottles never leave your device. There is no account and no server of ours. The one thing that does use the network is the advertising in the free version, and section 11 sets out what it sends and to whom.

Version 1.1 English Last updated 2 September 2026

Personal data collected
None by the developer. Google's advertising kit in the free version is the one exception. Section 11.
Accounts
There are none. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.
Analytics & tracking
No analytics service, no telemetry and no crash-reporting SDK. The free version carries Google's advertising kit, which asks for your consent before it loads anything. Section 11.
Network access
Every development time, calculator and process template is built into the app. The only request the app makes of its own accord is for an advertisement in the free version. Section 11.
Where your work lives
On your device only. Section 2.
Advertising
In the free version only, delivered by Google after you consent. Agitate Pro removes it. Section 11.
Purchases
Handled entirely by Apple. The developer never sees your identity or your payment details. Section 3.
Controller
Levin Schwab, Weil der Stadt, Germany. Section 9.

1 What the app does not do

  • There is no account and no sign-up.
  • There is no analytics service, no telemetry and no crash reporting SDK.
  • There is no server operated by the developer. None exists.
  • Your recipes, your journal, your bottles and your settings are never uploaded anywhere.
  • Every development time, calculator and process template is built into the app itself, so none of them is fetched over the network.

One thing does use the network, and it is not your work: the free version loads advertising from Google, which section 11 describes in full and which Agitate Pro removes. Everything else below happens on your own device, or is what Apple does when you buy something.

2 What stays on your device

Your recipes, your development journal, your chemistry bottles and your settings are stored in the app's own storage on your device. They are included in your device backup if you have one, that is an encrypted iCloud or iTunes backup made by Apple, which the developer has no access to.

If you export your data as CSV or JSON, the file goes wherever you send it. That is your choice and outside this app's control.

3 Purchases

The Agitate Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether the purchase exists. The developer never sees your name, your payment details or your Apple Account. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction. The terms of the purchase itself are in the Terms of Use.

4 Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules them locally on your device so a step can still alert you when the app is in the background. They are created and delivered on the device and are never sent through a server, Apple's or anyone else's.

5 This website

This policy covers the site you are reading it on as well. These pages are static files hosted by Vercel. They set no cookies, load no fonts and fetch nothing from a third party. The site counts page views and App Store button clicks with a cookieless measurement service, which section 10 describes; this legal page carries no script at all.

To deliver a page at all, the hosting provider processes the connection data that delivery requires: your IP address, the time of the request and the page you asked for. That is done to serve the site and keep it available and secure, which is the legitimate interest relied on under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Nothing is combined into a profile, and nothing is passed on.

6 Children

The app is not directed at children, and the developer collects no personal data from anyone, of any age. The advertising in the free version loads only after consent has been given, it is described in section 11, and Agitate Pro removes it.

7 Your rights

Under the GDPR and comparable laws you have rights of access, rectification and erasure over personal data a controller holds about you. The developer holds none: there is no account, no server and no copy of your work, so there is nothing here to disclose, correct or delete. What Google processes for advertising in the free version, and how to withdraw the consent it rests on, is set out in section 11. Removing the app removes everything it stored on your device.

8 Changes

When what the app does changes, this page changes with it. The advertising in the free version is the example already on the record: it is set out in section 11 rather than buried. If a future version processes anything new, it will be described here just as plainly, and before that version ships.

11 Advertising in the free version

The free version of Agitate shows advertising. It appears as a banner at the bottom of the Develop, Times and More screens, and as one full screen advert at the moment you acknowledge a finished run. It never appears while a run is going. In safelight mode nothing is drawn at all, because another company's picture is usually a bright one, and white light in a darkroom both costs you your dark adaptation and can fog film. A full screen advert is held back further by fixed limits: a grace period at the start, a minimum number of finished runs and a minimum time between two adverts, and at most one in a session. Agitate Pro removes the advertising entirely.

The adverts are delivered by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and Google LLC elsewhere. To fill an advert slot, Google receives technical data from the device such as an IP address, device and operating system characteristics and, if you allow it, an advertising identifier.

Data type Processed by the app Reaches a third party
Recipes, journal, bottles, settings Written to your device only No. It is never passed to the advertising kit or to anyone else
Advertising identifier (IDFA) Only if you allow it in the App Tracking Transparency prompt Google, for advertising, and only with your permission
Technical request data for an advert Sent by Google's kit when an advert is loaded Google, on the basis of your consent
Contact details, location, purchase history No No

Your consent comes first. Before the advertising kit is started at all, the app shows Google's User Messaging Platform consent form, and iOS then asks its own App Tracking Transparency question. Only after that does any advert load. The legal basis is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future: open the More tab in the app and choose Advertising privacy choices. That entry is shown wherever consent was asked for in the first place. Buying Agitate Pro removes the advertising altogether.

Google's own processing is described at policies.google.com/privacy and, for advertising specifically, at business.safety.google/privacy. Beyond Google's advertising kit the app uses no analytics service, no attribution SDK and no crash reporting service of the developer's.
